Goodnight Mommy
aka Ich seh, Ich seh
First screened in October 2015
Directors: Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala. Cast: Elias Schwarz, Lukas Schwarz, Susanne Wuest, Elfriede Schatz, Karl Purker, Hans Escher, Christian Schatz. Screenplay: Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala.

Twitter Capsule: Vise-tight dispatch from planet's least Chamber of Commerce-friendly cinema. Controlled burn. End almost undoes it.

Second Capsule: The Witch barely fazed me. This had me squirming and (twice) howling in my seat. If that's your thing, here you go.

Third Capsule: You've all been acting like you're more or less doing OK. Does that imply you haven't seen Goodnight Mommy? At the moment, I'm not quite OK.

VOR:   Horror turns on a deep tear in basic fabric of recognition, either familial or political. This idea comes off with unusual force, though Austrian formalism familiar by now.
