Twitter Capsule: Admits much more unevenness and complexity than is usual in most redemption stories of this stripe. I really respected that.

Second Capsule: I'd have loved more scenes exploring the black characters. That said, the film is atypically earnest in framing whiteness as ugly pathology.

Third Capsule: It's also been a while since Christian charity was framed so complexly and convincingly as both agony and blessing for oppressed believers.

VOR:   A bolder, more valuable film might have figured how to balance and distribute the drama better but this is a worthy stab at a noble goal.
