Wuthering Heights (2011)
First screened in December 2012
Director: Andrea Arnold. Cast: Solomon Glave, James Howson, Shannon Beer, Kaya Scodelario, Nichola Burley, Simone Jackson, Lee Shaw, Paul Hilton, Amy Wren, Oliver Milburn, Emma Ropner, Jonathan Powell, James Northcote, Eve Coverley, Steve Evets, Adam Lock, Paul Murphy, Michael Hughes. Screenplay: Andrea Arnold and Olivia Hetreed (based on the novel by Emily Brontë).

Twitter Capsule: Dour, statically self-regarding naturalism misses Brontë's pagan turmoil and eerie necrophilia until strong end.

VOR:   Proof that guty concepts (adventurous casting, Ryan on the moors, Arnold mussing the Canon) can yield largely drab results. Interesting, though. A godsend for syllabi.
