Winner '64:
First Saw It:
My Fair Lady
May 19, 2001, on video
Bridesmaids: Becket, Dr. Strangelove, How the West Was Won, Mary Poppins, Zorba the Greek
My Vote: Quite a contest between Mary Poppins and Dr. Strangelove, with the nanny just ahead
Overlooked: Nothing But a Man, Marnie, My Life to Live (Vivre sa vie)

My Fair Lady
First screened in May 2001/ Most recently screened in June 2014
Director: George Cukor. Cast: Rex Harrison, Audrey Hepburn, Wilfrid Hyde-White, Stanley Holloway, Mona Washbourne, Jeremy Brett, Gladys Cooper, Theodore Bikel, Isobel Elsom. Screenplay: Alan Jay Lerner (based on the stage musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, based in turn on the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw).

Twitter Capsule: Cecil Beaton and sterling song score carry it. Harrison's Henry is still a creep. Low on energy and cinematic style.

VOR:   Loyal transfer of legendary musical has some archival value and durable cultural currency, yet barely tries to embrace a new medium. Only risk is casting a lead who can't sing.
