African American Trouble Every Day. Roegian portents, blood rivers, and a 70s-specific, Demon Seed strain of madness.
Weird of me to build three stylistic analogies into bit about Ganja & Hess when what's most obvious about the film is its total uniqueness.
Most easily distinguished as total contrast to Sweetback school of indie black cinema. But when or where does any comparable film exist? Plays well with others on syllabi, but utterly, scarily itself.
